The Cruze is refusing to go into reverse, 1st and second. It’s not the shift linkage as I’m mostly unable to put it in gear by hand either. It lined up once and was able to shift through a couple times then blocked again when the car was on clutch in. It’s not the clutch as I can start drama free in third.

I’m going to be pissed if I have to drop the transmission for this car. Tell me that some random bushing failure gives these symptoms.

I have better shit to do than work on this.

On a better note the Impala is back up and running. But there’s a fresh oil leak behind the water pump or opti, at least it’ll be simple to find and repair.

Sounds like something wrong internally to me. Shift fork sheared free or something. I hope im wrong for your sake though.

Yeah I dont have any experience with the Cruze specifically (theyre scarce in the UK) so maybe theres another fault common to them.

I had an Audi and put an aftermarket shifter in, and you could actually adjust it poorly enough that you couldn't get a few gears. So it COULD be a bushing or something in the shifter. I wouldn't bet on it, but it's possible.

Yeah I was going to re adjust the cables then decided to see if I could shift it at the transmission first. When I tried to put it in gear with the motor on (wife on the clutch) blocked with a faint whirring sound when trying but unable to put it in first/second. Yeah, I don’t have much hope.

Sounds like maybe a roll pin or something came out. Trans probably has to get yanked.
